Father Cho,
I do want to echo what is trying to communicate. It is concerning not just to and I, but a vast majority of young married couples. My immediate friends have expressed their concerns but additionally, various folks from different regional guyolk hwes have expressed their frustrations. Furthermore, the assumption is that the 10 o'clock mass is for kids and the local community parishioners. It seems unfair to the kids and locals to hear one of the most important aspect of mass and they can't understand the homily. I just want to say I really enjoy your homilies but can't say a lot of folks enjoyed yesterday's homily.
Yesterday I was thinking about those parishioners who have non Korean relatives who were at mass. There were quite a few. I would love for them to continue to come to our parish and fully participate in our church.
Perhaps there is an equitable resolution, like having the Korean homily written in the jubo or something like that.
I do think however, this is a concern that you may want to hold a town hall meeting. Maybe it's overblown but maybe it's not. At the very least you will have heard what the families are sayingand guage for yourself.
At the end of the day both Francis and I want to make a better Church and to keep it flourishing for years to come and ultimately bring those Korean Americans to come back.
Would love to hear your point of view.
