I would like to see a diverse mass. A 10 am full of people , korean as well as american, african american, spanish. The children would certainly benefit from it. I am 1.5 generation. I don't speak fluent korean, nor can I read and write. My mother used to drag me to korean speaking mass , and I hated every time. Having a english mass in a korean church has been nothing but a blessing for me and my children. Yes,my kids don't speak perfect korean. As a parent,I have instilled in them a sense for korean culture. They are proud to be korean. Unlike my early years , I did not like being korean. That all changed when I started going korean mass. I didn't like the all korean mass, but, I got to be with koreans my age. I grew up in a Italian neighborhood, I still have my brooklyn accent. My point is that children will absorb their enviroment. That is why SAK is so great for our children. They will learn to balance the 2 cultures ,along with the Holy Spirit. There is no effort needed by our parish. If it was a necessary element, am sure the parioshners would have asked for a structured learning class. Maybe that is what may be needed. A balance between both english speaking and Korean speaking. I may not see it as , but we need to understand the message. I understand where he is coming from. I also can see the merit of your points. one or two I may disagree, but it is not something insurmountable. We need to discuss this in a non-confrontational manner, all of us. Hopefully, we can sometime soon. kindest regards,
